EverFi offers two methods for creating assignments:
- Quick assignments: consider this a "one off" assignment created for a static, defined set of users. During the setup, you select the users based on criteria or a specific upload of users. Once the assignment is created, users cannot be added.
- Automated Assignment: an automated assignment will assign the training to users over time as they meet the criteria of the assignment.
When choosing the assignment type, the training population is a key decision point. This Decision Flow Chart outlines the decision making process. Click here for a PDF version.

Items to consider for choosing the assignment type
|
Quick Assignment |
Automated Assignment |
General |
Best for a distinct time period and a distinct group of people. |
Best for creating an assignment that will span over a period of time and users may fall into the training population as time goes on. |
Training Population |
A specific set of people at a point in time. Useful if you have a list of users to upload that you want to assign a training or to not |
The population will change over time as the training timeline runs. For example, as new people qualify in PeopleSoft as applicants or potential matriculants, the API will send them to EverFi with a label "TIX". In the first month, that may be 50 students and a month later there could be another 75 students. The automation will assign the new studen the training. |
Timeline
|
Use when you want the training to run a specific time span and all assignees will receive the assignment on the same day and the due date will be the same for everybody. |
Allows for a rolling due date based on when the person falls into that assignment. A due date time period is set, such as 60 days. Trainee A who is in the population on a launch of June 1 would be due on July 30. Person B who fall sinto the assignment on June 15 will have until Aug 15. |
Identification Method |
If there is no automatically populated label or other criteria readily available on all records in EverFi, you can use this assignment option either by uploading a list of users that's used only by that quick assignment or you can "batch edit" the matching users to set a label. |
If users come in via the API with a label that can be used for assignment identification. API changes can be requested through OTS if there is a way in PeopleSoft or Active Directory to group those users. (Examples could be employing department, job type, academic program, etc.) |
