In rare cases, UBalt students, staff, or faculty may not be able to use the Microsoft Authenticator app or a hardware token to authenticate. In that case, MFA can be completed with a software code. OTS approval and setup are required prior to authenticating with Ente Auth.
Step 1: Open a web browser and navigate to https://auth.ente.com/signup. Enter a personal email address and create a password that is different than your UBalt password. Check the box to agree to the terms and privacy policy. Click Create Account. You may need to validate your account by entering a code sent to your email address.
Step 2: Download and install the Ente Auth mobile app from https://ente.com/auth/#download-auth. Login to the app with the credentials you used to create an account.
Step 3: Open a web browser, navigate to https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info, and click Add sign-in method.

Step 4: Click Microsoft Authenticator then Set up a different authentication app.

Step 5: Click Next on the screen that appears, then open the Ente Auth app. Click the + symbol, click Scan a QR code, and scan the code that appears. Click Next in the web browser, enter the 6 digit code from the Ente Auth app, and click Next.

The 6-digit code from the Ente Auth app or from the Ente webpage (https://auth.ente.com/auth) can now be used for MFA.
